Beautiful North Berwick

The seaside town of North Berwick is located on a promontory at the eastern end of the Firth Of Forth and looks out to the islands of the Firth (Fidra, Lamb, Craigleith and the famous Bass Rock). It enjoys its own micro-climate and has beautiful sandy beaches, a picturesque harbour and a bustling high street. The town (population 8,000) is surrounded by beautiful countryside.

The area provides some of the best golf courses in Scotland, being located at the centre of the 'Edinburgh Golf Coast'.

There are plenty of activities to enjoy. The main attraction is golf with visitors travelling from across the globe to sample Scottish golf at its best.

But if you are not a golfer, you could try scuba diving, fishing, hill-walking, karting or bird watching.

Located on the harbour, the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick is perfect for the enthusiastic bird watcher or nature lover. Closed Circuit TV cameras allow live viewing of the wildlife on the islands: the gannets of the Bass Rock, the puffins of Craigleith or the seals on the Isle of May.

Other visitor attractions include Glenkinchie Distillery at nearby Pencaitland, John Muir House in Dunbar, Myreton Motor Museum (Aberlady) and East Fortune Museum of Flight which even has one of the now de-commissioned Concorde super-sonic aeroplanes for you to look over.

The area has a variety of historic houses and castles including Lennoxlove House, Dirleton Castle and Tantallon Castle with its spectacular views to the nearby Bass Rock.
